Sankalpa

Sankalpa means resolution and it shows intention towards something that the intelligence knows intuitively will bring balance, will re-solve … bring back the state of harmony.

The foremost Sankalpa is our intention when approaching yoga. What do I want to achieve? This will set the basis for subsequent resolutions and forgetting not yoga's ultimate spectrum as a happiness restoring art we should give our general intention a moment of meditation.

After the general direction has been set the following Sankalpas will surely contribute towards the final goal.

Sankalpa is planted deeply on the fertile ground of subconscious mind and thus effecting over conscious activities changing effectively the course of events.
When the mind is open and welcoming the sankalpa is placed with faith and conviction. It is expressed in a succinct , simple and positive way, and kept it unadulterated until the "solution" is manifested.

So, when the general intention is clear a subsequent Sankalpa can be set, related to any topic that intuitively you consider needs being re-solved. Use the welcoming and profound dimension of the mind reached during the daily practice of yoga. Remember to formulate your Sankalpa always in the same simple and positive way, and maintain it until is effected.
